As per reports, development of the Pixel Tablet 3 has been halted by government even before the announcement of a second-generation model. However, later it was claimed by the Andriod’s authority that is is actually the second-generation Pixel tablet that has been stopped.

This indicates that the device which was released last year will remain a standalone device as of now. It also signifies that Google is stepping away from the Tablet market for the second time in just over five years. The users might expect an extended pause until the next one arrives in the market.

The news also suggests that the sales performance of the Pixel Tablet has been lacklustre enough that made Google believe that further investment in a successor is not beneficial. Just last week, there were rumours about the new features and a keyboard accessory for this device which has now been abandoned.

It is important to consider that the Net Division of Google might assume responsibility for its large-screen product aspirations and pay attention to advancing devices that include the Nest Hub and Hub Max in place of standalone tablets.

Google has always faced issues in making a significant impact in the tablet market, hindered by its inconsistent strategy. This further prevents it from being a strong competitor that could give competition to Apple’s iPad in terms of sales and overall popularity.

While it had a promising start with the Nexus 7 long ago, it did not manage to maintain a strong presence afterwards, despite the good quality of its hardware. Android notably trails behind iPadOS in terms of the number of personalized third-party apps for tablets, which further complicates the efforts by Google. The only Pixel tablet developed by Google was delivered with a speaker dock that the tablet could attach to magnetically which initially sold at $499 followed by reducing the price to $399.
